3. The Bad Customer Blog

So towards the end of my shift today, a lady walked in that had bought a phone from someone else at bby mobile last night. it was a touchscreen phone and the touchscreen wasn't working so she brought it in to see if we could fix it. after looking at it for a minute or two, i couldn't figure out the problem so i said she could bring back the box and i'd exchange it for her and drop down the price for the inconvenience. she came back with it and i switched out the phone and dropped the price. everythings going smooth. she needed her numbers from the broken phone put in the new one so i got out our machine and booted it up. i start up the machine and select the 2 phones, and it reminds me the settings to put the old phone on so that it can transfer. one problem. i cant select the options i need to because of the touchscreen that isn't working. by this time her husband got there and wanted to know what was going on. so i tell her "unfortunatley since the phone is defective, i can't get the numbers out of it with the machine, so theres 2 options. i can try and put your sim card in and trasfer the numbers over to it or you can bring me the phone you switched the numbers from orginally. if you were to go get the old phone, i wouldn't be here when you get back because i'm already passed my shift and have to leave and i also won't be here tomorrow." after this, her husband jumps in out of silence with "where is your manager, i'll get him to make you stay later." i responded with "my manager isn't here right now, it's his day off." and he tells me "what do you mean your manager isn't here?" i explain to him "my manager works 5 days a week just like everyone else, sir, and none of the managers in the store belong to bby mobile because its seperate from the rest of the store, but my manager will be here tomorrow from 12 to 8 if you'd like to come back than with the old phone and speak to him." he clarifies that my manager will be there tomorrow and i let his wife choose what to do. she decides that they are going to go get the old phone than and there and bring it back tonight because her numbers are very important for work. after this i tell them i won't be there but one of the other 2 employees can help them when they get back. the lady jokes around with me and asks if i can lower the price or if i can do anything for them because of the inconvenience and i tell her i can't do anything else but my manager can if they speak to him tomorrow. her husband jumps in and says "why not? its your fault you sold us a fucked up phone." i turn to him quickly and reply with how best buy doesn't make the phones and that i wasn't the person to sell it to her originally, let alone that it was working perfectly fine before. right as they leave he asks again if my manager will be here tomorrow, and i say yes, and he says "good, i'm gonna tell him how employees staying later makes customers happy."

what a fucking asshole. there is no other words to explain that guy. its not good enough that i'm already going out of my way giving you a brand new phone, marking the phone down 30 bucks, and trying to transfer all of the numbers over, all while going past my shift and maybe getting in trouble for it. but ofcourse, you had to be an asshole about it too. once again, fucking asshole.
